Edinburgh Walks

About
Edinburgh Reward: 20% off Private Guided Walks

Edinburgh Walks provide tailored private and small group guided walks through Edinburgh and its port Leith. Discover the real Edinburgh - off the beaten trail - in a friendly, relaxed and informative way and visit the historic and cultural places of interest that tour buses do not reach.

  • Day and time flexibility.  We walk 7 days, all year.
  • A tailormade experience.
  • The chance to get out and about after a busy session indoors.
  • Guaranteed groups from 1 person.
  • A start from a central location.

Examples of our walks:

Old Town / New Town - The medieval Old Town including the Royal Mile and it's narrow Closes & Wynds, Grassmarket, Greyfriars, Historic tales, architecture, literature, from Burns, Scott and Stevenson to J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter and some film locations from Outlander.  Then the Georgian splendour of the New Town, designed in 1766 - 67 and populated by medics, politician, inventors and scientists as well as the gentry from then until now.

Country in the City - From the New Town to the Water of Leith, taking in Art Galleries, the final resting place of Georgian Edinburgh's "great and good", a charming 12th century village, bohemian Stockbridge, Royal Botanic Gardens and back through the New Town.

Sunny Leith - from central Edinburgh, via Calton Hill to the port of Leith, recently popularised in song by The Proclaimers and in the book Trainspotting.  The city gallows at Gallowlea, French and English occupation, the threat of the U.S. navy, Irish immigration and the change from an industrial past to "Leith-sur-Mer".  Ending at the Royal Yacht Britannia (entry fee required).

These are just a selection of walks available and they can be tailored to your needs and interests.  Each walk is 1/2 day (up to 4 hours).
